Are you looking for a new vegetable to add to your cooking repertoire? If so, then you should definitely give broccolini a try! In this article, I will instruct you on how to cook broccolini in 4 different ways.

1. How To Cook Broccolini on Stove (Sauteed Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch of broccolini
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • lemon zest, for garnish
  • lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the broccolini by trimming off any tough ends and removing any large leaves. Rinse the broccolini under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, or until the garlic becomes fragrant.

Add the broccolini to the skillet and toss to coat it evenly with the garlic butter mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Increase the heat to medium-high and sauté the broccolini for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes tender-crisp. Continuously toss and stir the broccolini to ensure even cooking and to prevent the garlic from burning.

Once the broccolini is cooked to your desired level of tenderness, remove the skillet from the heat.

Transfer the sautéed broccolini to a serving dish and drizzle any remaining garlic butter from the skillet over the top. Garnish with parsley and lemon zest; serve with lemon wedges.

Serve the sautéed broccolini as a delicious side dish alongside your main course.

2. How To Cook Broccolini in Oven (Roasted Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 2 bunches broccolini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1–2 pinches chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Wash broccolini and trim the tough ends, cutting any thick stalks in half lengthwise so that all the pieces are about the same diameter so that each piece cooks at the same rate.

Transfer to a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Add garlic powder, chili flakes (if using), kosher salt, and black pepper. Toss to thoroughly coat, using your hands or tongs to make sure that the florets are evenly coated with oil. Spread broccolini stalks out on the pan so they are in a single layer. This step ensures that it will roast and get crispy instead of steaming in the heat of the oven as the moisture from the broccolini is released.

Transfer baking sheet to the oven and roast for 8-10 minutes – until crisp tender. Increase the heat to broil for 1-2 minutes for more charred bits if desired.

Season again and serve. Remove from the oven and season to taste with more kosher salt if needed. Serve hot or warm, and enjoy!

3. How To Cook Broccolini in Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 bunches broccolini, approximately 1 pound
  • 2 teaspoons avocado oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Wash the broccolini and pat them dry. Then trim off the end of the stems. If there are lots of leaves on the stems and you know you won’t eat them, you can remove them as well.

Place the broccolini into a large bowl. Add oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Toss until the broccolini is evenly coated in oil and spices.
Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once the air fryer is hot, add the broccolini. There shouldn’t be too much overlap of the broccolini – if your air fryer is very small, it’s a good idea to make this amount of broccolini in two batches.

Cook the broccolini in the air fryer for 5-7 minutes for slightly crunchy stems. Gently shake the air fryer basket halfway through the cooking time. If you want the stems to be softer, cook the broccolini for an additional minute or two. Just keep an eye on the florets since you don’t want them to burn.

Once cooked to desired tenderness, remove the broccolini from the air fryer and serve them as a side dish. You can also grate some parmesan cheese on top if desired.

4. How To Cook Broccolini on Grill

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch of broccolini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Rinse the broccolini under cold water and pat it dry with a paper towel. Trim off any tough ends, leaving the florets and tender stems intact.

In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, and lemon zest. Mix well to incorporate the flavors.

Place the broccolini in a large bowl and drizzle the olive oil mixture over it. Toss the broccolini gently to ensure it is evenly coated with the oil and seasonings. Then season the broccolini with salt and pepper to taste.

Next, carefully place the broccolini on the preheated grill, arranging the stalks perpendicular to the grill grates to prevent them from falling through.

Grill the broccolini for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until it becomes tender and charred. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning, as cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of the broccolini stalks.

Once the broccolini is grilled to perfection, remove it from the grill and transfer it to a serving platter. Sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese over the grilled broccolini, if desired, for an extra layer of flavor.

Serve the grilled broccolini as a side dish or appetizer.
