1. How To Select & Prepare Bok Choy?

When selecting bok choy, look for crisp, bright green leaves with firm white stems. Avoid wilted or yellowing leaves, as these indicate that the bok choy is past its prime.

To prepare large bok choy or baby bok choy, you’ll need to wash it well under running water and trim off the root end. Next, cut the bok choy in half lengthwise, or continue slice it crosswise into 1-inch pieces if desired then drain

2. How To Cook Bok Choy


  • 2-pound baby bok choy halved
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp paprika powder


Step 1: Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, and paprika powder in a small bowl and set aside.

Step 2: Add oil to a large skillet and heat over high heat. Add garlic and ginger and stir fry for 30 seconds.

Step 3: Add bok choy and stir fry for 2 to 3 minutes until it is slightly wilted. Next, flip your bok choy over and cook the other side for 2 minutes. Then transfer all of them to a plate

Step 4: Pour the soy sauce mixture into a large skillet next add the cornstarch then stir well and cook until the sauce has thickened. Finally, add bok choy back and cook for 2 minutes

Step 5: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and serve immediately.
