1. How To Cook New York Strip Steak in Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 (1-inch thick) boneless New York strip
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F.

On a baking sheet, brush olive oil on both sides of the steak then season generously with salt, black pepper powder, and garlic powder per side.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat then place seasoned steaks in the skillet and cook per side for 2 minutes

Transfer your skillet to the oven and bake for 7 minutes on each side. You can check steak for doneness with a meat thermometer: rare is 125 °F, medium rare is 135 °F, medium is 145 °F, 160˚F for well done

Transfer steaks to a plate and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

2. How To Cook New York Strip Steak on Stove

Ingredients

  • 1 (1- 1 1/2 inch thick ) boneless New York Strip
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

First, pat the steaks dry with paper towels then season both sides of the steak with salt and ground black pepper.

Turn on the stove and pour oil into the cast iron and heat until the oil smoke. Next, gently and carefully, place seasoned steaks in the cast iron so the oil doesn’t splatter.

On over medium-high heat, sear the first sides of the steak for 3 minutes then flip your steak over and sear the second sides of the steak for 4 minutes if you want medium rare steak, 5 minutes for medium and 6 minutes for well done.

Use kitchen tongs to transfer your steaks to a plate and immediately top them with 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, cover with aluminum foil and rest for 10 minutes. Finally, slice the steak across the grain

3. How To Cook New York Strip Steak on Grill

Ingredients

  • 1 (1- 1 1/2 inch thick ) boneless New York Strip
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp vegetable or canola oil

Instructions

Heat the grill to high heat (around 450-500°F) for at least 10-15 minutes before adding the steak.

Liberally season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper or your favorite steak seasoning.

Using a slicone brush, lightly oil the grill grates with vegetable or canola oil to prevent sticking.

Place the steak on the grill and let it cook for 3-4 minutes on one side without moving it. Use tongs to flip the steak over and cook it for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side.

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steak. For medium-rare, cook to an internal temperature of 130-135°F; for medium, cook to 135-145°F; for medium-well, cook to 145-155°F; and for well-done, cook to 155°F or higher.

After cooking, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing or serving with your favorite sides
