Rinse rice under cool water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch.

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water or broth and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.

Close rice cooker lid, select the “white rice” setting and press start. Cook until automatic keep warm kicks in.

  • 1 1⁄4 cups water

Instructions

Rinse rice thoroughly in a mesh strainer. Then add rice, salt and water to Instant Pot inner pot.

Secure the lid and set valve to “sealing” position. Next, select manual/pressure cook mode on high for 4 minutes.

Allow pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes after cooking finishes.

Vent any remaining steam by turning valve to “venting.”

Remove lid, fluff rice with a fork and serve.

4. How To Cook Parboiled Rice in Microwave

Ingredients

  • 1⁄3 cup parboiled rice
  • 2⁄3 cup water
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

Rinse rice in a mesh strainer and place in a microwave-safe bowl with water and salt.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid, leaving a small vent opening.

Microwave on high for 6 minutes.

Remove from microwave and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
