Frozen corn on the cob is one of my favorite convenient veggies to keep on hand for easy summer side dishes. Not only is it inexpensive and long-lasting in the freezer, but corn is such a versatile ingredient.
Over the years, I’ve found that frozen corn can be cooked in a variety of methods to produce richly flavored results the whole family enjoys. Here are my go-to ways for cooking frozen corn on the cob.
1. How To Cook Frozen Corn on the Cob in Microwave
Ingredients
- 1-2 ears frozen corn on the cob, husks removed
- 1 tbsp butter, divided
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Remove corn husks and silks from the corn cobs if not already done. Rinse under cool water.
Place corn cobs on a microwave safe plate and sprinkle each with a 1/2 tbsp of butter. Season corn lightly with salt and pepper.
Microwave one ear of corn at a time on high power for 3-4 minutes, until tender when pierced with a knife. Cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s power.
Remove corn from microwave and brush with remaining butter.
Allow to cool slightly before eating. Serve corn on the cob hot, enjoying all the fresh sweet corn flavor without the usual stove top mess.
Some Tips For You
- For softer corn, add a small amount of water to the plate before microwaving.
- For a smoky flavor, use bacon fat instead of butter.
- Sprinkle cooked corn with herbs like parsley, chives or basil.
2. How To Cook Frozen Corn on the Cob on Stovetop
Ingredients
- 2 ears frozen corn on the cob, husked
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat.
Once the water is boiling, add the corn cobs and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until the corn is tender when pierced with a knife.
While the corn is cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave safe bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
Use tongs to remove corn from the pot and transfer to a serving dish. Then brush the hot corn all over with the seasoned butter.
Serve hot, garnished with extra butter, herbs, chili powder or other favorite toppings.
3. How To Cook Frozen Corn on the Cob in Oven
Ingredients
- 2 ears frozen corn on the cob, husked
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Brush corn cobs all over with melted butter and season with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Place corncobs on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, rotating halfway through, until corn is tender and lightly browned in spots.
Remove from oven and brush again with any remaining butter mixture.
Serve hot, garnished with extra smoked paprika if desired.
4. How To Cook Frozen Corn on the Cob in Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 2 ears frozen corn on the cob, husked
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Place the corn cobs in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Brush the corn all over with melted butter and season generously with salt and pepper. You can toss cobs with olive oil instead of butter for a lighter option.
Air fry at 400°F for 15-18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until corn is tender and lightly browned.
Remove from air fryer and brush with any remaining butter.
